Young Professionals Next Generation Leadership Advisory Council

This is special and personal invitation for you, as a young professional, to apply to join the Young Professionals Next Generation Leadership Advisory Council for one of New Jersey’s most visible and impactful nonprofits, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Essex County. 

For nearly 40 years, CASA Essex has been at the forefront of advocating for more than 3,200 children of Essex County, New Jersey living in foster care.  Specifically, we work with the courts and within the legal system to ensure that the foster children in our county are receiving the benefits, guidance, support, and services that they deserve from their education to their living placements and more.  What we do changes lives.

We recognize this may be the first time you are exploring the opportunity to serve on a nonprofit leadership advisory council, but don’t worry, we’ve got you.  We will help you to learn more about nonprofits, why we make such a difference in the communities we serve and how you can make a difference.  We will also provide you with the support and training you need to effectively begin/continue your personal journey of making a significant difference in the community and building and expanding your personal professional network.

Membership on CASA Essex’s Young Professionals Next Generation Leadership Advisory Council is a very exciting opportunity so apply today.

Requirements To Qualify:

·         Age 24-35

·         Good communication skills and work effectively as a member of a team

·         Enthusiastic ambassador for your community

Council Expectations:

·         Serve a 2-year term

·         Attend in-person evening meetings on third Tuesday of every other month

·         Act in the best interest of foster children in Essex County and CASA Essex

·         Help identify, organize and participate in CASA Essex community-oriented events

How to Apply:

·         First - virtually participate in a 1-hour information session. Email info @casaessex.org to receive meeting link – put “Join NextGen LAC” in the subject line

·         Second - following the information session you will then be asked to complete a formal application and participate in a formal selection interview

·         Third – upon successful completion of steps 1 and 2 you will then be asked to attend a formal orientation ceremony. That ceremony will take place in-person on Tuesday, September 19 at 7pm
